Ingredients

  • 2 pounds (900g) chicken wings, split at joints, tips removed
  • 2 tbsp baking powder (not baking soda)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Optional: your favorite sauce for tossing (e.g., buffalo, barbecue, honey mustard)

Instructions 

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. Lightly grease the wire rack with cooking spray.
  • Dry the Chicken Wings: Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. Place them in a large mixing bowl.

  • Arrange on Wire Rack: Arrange the seasoned chicken wings in a single layer on the prepared wire rack, leaving a little space between each wing. This will allow the air to circulate and help the wings crisp up evenly.
  • Bake the Wings: Place the baking sheet with the chicken wings in the preheated oven. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the wings are golden brown and crispy, flipping them halfway through the cooking time for even browning.
  • Optional: Toss in Sauce: If desired, transfer the baked wings to a clean mixing bowl and toss them with your favorite sauce until evenly coated.
  • Serve: Serve the crispy baked chicken wings immediately as a delicious appetizer or main dish. Enjoy them as is or with your favorite dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

  • Make sure to use baking powder, not baking soda, to achieve crispy chicken wings.
  • For extra flavor, you can add additional spices or seasonings to the seasoning mixture according to your preference.
  • Serve the wings with celery sticks, carrot sticks, and your favorite dipping sauces such as ranch or blue cheese dressing for a classic accompaniment.
  • Leftover chicken wings can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
